Understanding Hand Ranges

A range is the collection of hands you'd play in a given situation. Position heavily influences which hands are profitable to play.

Reading the Grid

  • Diagonal (AA-22): Pocket pairs
  • Above diagonal (AKs, AQs): Suited hands
  • Below diagonal (AKo, AQo): Offsuit hands

Position Guia

  • UTG (Under the Gun): Tightest range, only premium hands
  • MP (Middle Position): Slightly wider, add strong hands
  • CO (Cutoff): Can open more hands, good position postflop
  • BTN (Button): Widest range, best position
  • SB (Small Blind): Wide but must play out of position
Adjust to Your Game

These ranges are starting points for typical games. Tighten up against tough opponents and widen against passive players.
