Understanding Hand Ranges
A range is the collection of hands you'd play in a given situation. Position heavily influences which hands are profitable to play.
Reading the Grid
- Diagonal (AA-22): Pocket pairs
- Above diagonal (AKs, AQs): Suited hands
- Below diagonal (AKo, AQo): Offsuit hands
Position Guia
- UTG (Under the Gun): Tightest range, only premium hands
- MP (Middle Position): Slightly wider, add strong hands
- CO (Cutoff): Can open more hands, good position postflop
- BTN (Button): Widest range, best position
- SB (Small Blind): Wide but must play out of position
Adjust to Your Game
These ranges are starting points for typical games. Tighten up against tough opponents and widen against passive players.
